join our volunteer board of directors
EWCS is looking for candidates that have skills in areas of: fundraising, marketing, leadership, board governance, volunteer management and people with lived experience with a community service agency or who have a passion for making a positive impact within the East Wellington community. Board positions start in September of each year and require a commitment to serve a 3 year term.
Our reception desk in Erin is entirely staffed by volunteers who volunteer each weekday morning or afternoon. Front Desk Volunteers provide community information for agency clients and the public, assist with providing referrals to EWCS or other agency programs and services, direct phone and walk-in inquiries to the appropriate staff member and complete administrative tasks.
online book store
The online bookstore sells collector and specialized books. Volunteers check for online orders, package and ship books, communicate with customers, research and list books for sale.
Volunteers help carry and sort donations or pack hampers for clients. Volunteers are needed to pick up food donations in the community or assisting at a community food drive event!
adult day programs
Our day program provides care and support for frail seniors and those with dementias. Volunteers assist the staff with aspects of the Day Program; including assisting with crafts, meals, activities, outings, etc. Our volunteers ride along with participants and our transportation driver on the bus to help support the seniors getting to and from the program each day.
EWCS holds a variety of special events and fundraisers throughout the year. We need volunteers to be part of the organizing committees, assist at the events or by promoting the event in the community, selling tickets and more.
Our thrift stores are staffed entirely by volunteers. Volunteers maintain the stores as cashiers, donation sorters, creating window displays, organizing sale events and more! Join our store teams in Erin at our New to You or Bookends Book Store or in Rockwood at our New to You store.
organize a food drive
Support the food bank by getting your family, friends, co-workers, church, service club or sports team members together and collecting food items for our food bank. A list of most needed items can be found here.
